221010.
A day spent with stinky birds, dolphins and seals out in the open sea!
Probably the awesomest trip in Aussie!
=D
Started off with a walk from home all the way to Geelong main station
and the awesome bus driver gave us student priced tickets
so our trip that day only cost $1.80!
Arrived 3 hours before our boat was scheduled to head off.
Registered and camwhored with the Happy Hats!
3 hats for $50.
Us being kiam siap,
camwhore only lorr..
lol.
Brunch at this 'recommended' place.
It sucked.
Farm Foods Beef and Red Wine Sausages with field mushrooms, mashed potato, caramelised onions and relish - $19.50
Chicken & Mint Noodle Salad with Thai Lime & Chilli Dressing - $20.50
For those who know me,
I cannot resist dishes with mushrooms, onions, mashed potato and mint.
And from what we imagined,
or I imagined,
Beef and Red Wine Sausages,
for that price,
would've at least came with
a piece of steak and sausages with
loads of mushroons and potato and onions!
Or maybe 2 huge-ass German sausages will do.
Secondly,
Chicken and Mint Noodle,
I imagined noodles made of mint-flavoured flour. Green noodles!
but nooo...
all we got was a small pathetic dish of raw bee hoon with lime and chilli dressing.
That, for $20.50!
Our $39.50 worth of breakfast was a total disappointment!
Grrr...~
That was the only sucky part from the whole trip.
Thank God.
We had awesome weather that day as well!
24 degrees maximum, if not mistaken.
Finally we got all suited up,
and off we go!
Damn excited
and I love love love the boom deck!
(i think it's called the boom deck.)
Anyway,
we just call it the net.
haha.
First stop,
Pope's Eye.
Damn stinky stop.
=/
This was also our first snorkelling spot.
Regretted going in the water at that time.
It was so bloody cold!
Imagine swimming in a pool of iced water.
Correction.
Imagine FLOATING in a pool of iced water.
The flippers were so damn stiff,
I could hardly move.
All I did was hang onto this banana-shaped float
and let the instructor drag me along.
hehe.
But was disappointed.
All I saw were seaweeds and dull fishes.
All that energy kicking and swimming in iced water wasted!
Next were dolphins!
Dolphins on these trips are not guaranteed.
All of us had to keep our eyes wide open to help spot for dolphins.
We were lucky that day.
This German couple on our boat spotted some dolphins
and we spent the next hour chasing them
trying to go ahead of them so we could jump in and watch them swim past us.
(yes, that's the 'swimming with dolphins' part. lol.)
"Look, gay sharks!"
Damn potong very few people got my gay shark caption on Facebook.
=.=
Anyway,
I didn't go jump in and watch them swim past us.
I was all warmed up already after the first snorkel
I didn't feel like getting wet again.
Final stop was another stinky one.
The seals.
Big, fat seals!
and yes,
again I did not bother to jump in and swim with them.
I was a bit seasick already by that time
and the sun just felt so good while I was lying on the boat's roof.
After the seals,
we headed back to the harbour,
or pier?
hmm..
On the way back,
the instructor taught us some really cool tricks!
Rope riding was my ultimate favourite!
(watch the video at the end. I look weird and ignore them laughing at me.)
All the seasickness just vanished once the adrenalin started pumping.
XD
Lastly was a small picnic and camwhore session on the observation deck.
More like camwhore session for the two guys.
Damn poser. haha.
I just sat, ate and watched.
The Lady Gaga-Bad Romance + seal clap pose.
And these are a couple of wu liao ang moh kias cycling into the water.
Apparently, they tied weights onto their bikes in order to attempt to cycle underwater.
It was funny to watch their bike sink and they,
diving in one by one to loosen the weights and rescuing their bike.
haha.
Video of me rope riding!!
Wheeee...!!~
Ooh!
and lemme explain how hardcore was our holiday.
The day before was MART, as posted.
8am MART trip was followed by a trip to
Melbourne Uni,
the Shrine of Remembrance,
the Royal Botanical Gardens,
St.Kilda beach for penguins,
and back to the city for dinner!
Headed back to Geelong on the 11pm train,
and the dolphin trip began at 7am the next morning
up till 9pm that night.
Next up will be the G.O.R trip!
Another 7am - 10pm trip.
3rd trip in a row
and 500 more photos to filter!
